Partnering with

Ross & Sons

Wheat, Barley and Beans

Burra, SA

We partnered with Joe Ross on his wheat, beans, and barley programmes, providing the cash flow needed to expand operations and navigate a run of tough seasons. The support gave Joe the confidence to seize new opportunities and continue scaling his business, all while reducing financial and seasonal pressure.

Here's what they said about IIF

  1. Where did you first hear about IIF?

I first heard about IIF through a lady I met at a Farm Owners Academy event. She had spoken to someone from IIF at a field day in Queensland and had also seen them on social media. That’s what first put IIF on my radar.

  2. What led you to work with IIF?

Honestly, it felt “too good to be true.”

Here in South Australia, we don’t have many options like this in ag, and we’d never come across anything like this before. It seemed really unique, almost like there had to be a catch. We found ourselves asking, “What’s the catch?”

  3. What benefit did you gain from working with IIF?

Partnering with IIF has allowed us to add more land to our business and continue scaling up. We had already invested in new machinery to support growth, but back-to-back challenges, including frost damage and drought, meant our cash flow had taken a hit.

We’re in a moderate-risk area where 1 in 10 years is usually a drought year, but we’ve had three in a row leaving us with some cash flow challenges, and IIF’s support helped us navigate through it.

It’s been a game-changer in terms of cash flow and being able to take advantage of opportunities when they arise. We love what we do, we’re passionate about growing crops, and IIF has taken a bit of the financial and seasonal risk off the table. That peace of mind means a lot.

Farm Owners Academy helped open our minds to new ideas, and IIF was the perfect fit to help us follow through on them.
  4. What fears, doubts, or concerns did you have before partnering with us?

Reach out and have a conversation. That’s the best place to start. Once we understood how IIF works and how they diversify risk, it gave us a lot more confidence. It’s reassuring to know the investors aren’t putting all their eggs in one basket, and it made us feel more secure, too.

It gave us the confidence to have a crack, and we genuinely want to do well by the investors.
  5. How would you describe the onboarding process with IIF?

It was easy. The only challenge was securing our new lease block, but working with IIF itself was straightforward. They understood what we were talking about—there wasn’t all the red tape and bureaucracy you get with most organisations.

They backed us, and that gave us the confidence to back ourselves. It felt like a partnership, not just a transaction.

Farming is changing. It’s not what it once was, and you’ve got to think outside the box to stay ahead. Don’t throw in the towel, just have a crack. IIF gave us the ability to do that.
